Padma Lakshmi Bio

Padma Parvati Lakshmi, a daughter of Padma Parvati Lakshmi, was born in Chennai, India, on September 1st 1970. Her parents divorced after she turned just 2 years old. Her mother fled India to escape the stigma associated with divorce in India and emigrated to the United States. Lakshmi lived for two years with her grandparents in Chennai prior to her move to the United States. Her parents divorced later and she has a younger half-brother and half sister from her father. Lakshmi is the descendant of Hindu goddess Wealth and Prosperity She grew up in New York City and Los Angeles. She would return to India for a few months each year to visit relatives. Padma Lakshmi started acting in 1999. The first movie she appeared in was "Figlio di Sandokan" which was a film about an Italian pirate. Then she was given the role of "Caraibi" (Pirates Blood Brothers), which is a period drama about 17th century pirates. In 2001, she was a comedy supporting role as a singer in discos in  the film 'Glitter.' Padma has one daughter named Krishna Thea Lakshmi Dell, with Adam Dell who is a venture investor. Krishna was born on February 20, the 20th of February, 2010. She has also been involved with Teddy Forstmann, the ex-chairman and CEO of IMG. Lakshmi has a child with American venture capitalist Adam Dell. While she initially kept the identity and location of her child's father a in the dark, Lakshmi revealed that he was Dell. Her daughter said, "Everything is better when she's there." "Anything, from the beginning of each day until the end. I'm not a person with the patience to pay attention to any other person than her.
